What does this sybol mean in an old handwritten recipe book from 1938 please? Ref to beating eggs .:) Thx!?

The sentence says ';Beat egg till .:) '; the full stop is actually slightly higher but not top height, I can't convey it on though. I wondered if it meant ';peaks'; but not sure. Any help appreciated. Thanks! What does this sybol mean in an old handwritten recipe book from 1938 please? Ref to beating eggs .:) Thx!?
